Protecting your propertywhen neighbours build.
If you’ve received a party wall notice, you have a statutory right to appoint a surveyor — at the building owner’s reasonable cost — to safeguard your home and interests throughout the works.
An informed, personal approach.
Receiving a notice can feel intrusive, but the Act is there to protect you. Alan acts as a careful, plain-speaking Adjoining Owner Surveyor — reviewing the proposed works, ensuring your property is fully documented before construction starts, and agreeing safeguards that hold the building owner accountable.
Our role is not adversarial. It is to ensure works proceed lawfully, with proper records and proper protection for your home.
Every appointment includes:
Notice review
We confirm the validity of the notice and explain your options in plain English.
Schedule of Condition
A thorough photographic and written record of your property before works begin.
Award negotiation
We agree the Award with the building owner’s surveyor, securing meaningful safeguards.
Damage protection
A clear evidential baseline if remedial works or compensation are later required.
A clear, considered process.

Questions, answered honestly.
Will appointing a surveyor cost me anything?+
In the majority of cases the building owner is responsible for the adjoining owner’s reasonable surveyor fees under the Act.
Can I refuse the works?+
You cannot block lawful works, but you can dissent to the notice and require an Award that protects your property properly.
What if damage occurs during the works?+
The Schedule of Condition is your evidential baseline. The Award will set out how damage is assessed and remedied.
How quickly should I act?+
You have 14 days to respond to a notice. We recommend forwarding it to us as soon as you receive it.
Send your plans. Alan will personally review your project.
A straightforward conversation, an honest quote, and a clear path forward.
